About the Asia Pacific Burns Association |
| Asia Pacific Burns Association |
|
| Every geographical region of the world apart from the Asia Pacific region has a burns association. The Asia Pacific region encompasses over a third of the world's population and well over half the worlds burns patients. In 2003, over a thousand letters were sent out to poll regional interest and at the ISBI meeting in Yokohama in 2004 a formal meeting was attended by representatives of the Asia Pacific region. A unanimous decision was taken to endorse the setting up of a regional association. The aim is to make this association inclusive for all those involved in burns care and to make it accessible to all who want to participate. It is essential that it compliments and supports the work of the ISBI as is the case with the other regional associations. A steering committee was chosen to determine the nature, constitution and mission of the association. |
